The Environmental Photographer of the Year is an international showcase for the very best in environmental photography and video, honouring amateurs and professionals of all ages. Organised by CIWEM since 2007, the Environmental Photographer of the Year is completely free to enter and is one of the fastest growing photographic competitions in the world.

Every year the Environmental Photographer of the Year receives fantastic media coverage - see a small selection at The Telegraph, The Sun, and Daily Mail - and all winning pictures are featured in our roving exhibition and collectors book.

The 2011 competition is open and until 31st July 2011. Please read the category briefs carefully before submitting.

Canon Introduces New SLR- 600D

 In February this year Canon introduced its newest entry-level DSLR camera, the Canon EOS 600D. The compact, lightweight SLR camera has everything on board for capturing beautiful photos as well as Full HD videos. The Canon EOS 600D captures clear colors with a lot of detail, thanks to the 18 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor that works together with the 14-bits DIGIC 4 image processor. With the 9-point AF-system, each image is razor sharp; and precision focusing is possible thanks to an extremely sensitive AF-sensor that is centrally placed. With the Canon EOS 600D, action photos can also be shot at a speed of 3.7 images per second, which is ideal for shooting action sports, or moving pets and children.
